The National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) today announced publication of new resources for improving the safe use of systemic therapy when treating pediatric aggressive mature b-cell lymphomas.
The NCCN Chemotherapy Order Templates (NCCN Templates®) contain critical information on dosing, administration, side effects and other monitoring and safety parameters, and are used by clinicians to ensure that they are delivering optimal treatment as recommended by the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®). There are now 2,531 published NCCN Templates® covering 108 unique cancer types across 58 different NCCN Guidelines®, with 328 new templates added in the past year alone.
The new NCCN Templates for Pediatric Aggressive Mature B-Cell Lymphomas were developed by NCCN team members Samantha Tamburro, RN, BSN, CPHON, who previously worked as a pediatric infusion nurse for many years, and Daniel Lui, PharmD, BCPPS, who also has extensive experience specializing in pediatric clinical pharmacy for hematology-oncology. They worked in collaboration with Members of the NCCN Chemotherapy Order Templates Committee and NCCN Guidelines® Panel Members with pediatric expertise.
The NCCN Templates program recently celebrated its 15th anniversary of standardizing patient care, reducing errors, and helping providers and pharmacists to anticipate and manage adverse events. The program is overseen by Evelyn Handel Zapata, PharmD, BCPS, BCOP, Senior Director of Drugs & Biologics Programs. Dr. Handel Zapata was recently named a 40 Under 40 in Cancer: Emerging Leader for her contributions to the field of cancer. Learn more here.
